I definitely do. Although my garage floor is too broken and crappy to use a creeper on.

I would clean out my garage and start working on my wife’s Expedition if I owned this.

I found it! It’s called
The Human Hoist
![]() 03/06/2018 at 00:15 |

I saw someone say “around $1000" during a brief googling, but nothing official. Their Facebook page seems to have more recent content as well.

Ah, must be one of those “if you have to ask, you can’t afford it” things, aimed towards those who really need it.
![]() 03/06/2018 at 05:25 |

Yep. Garage too full and floor too covered in tools to make use of this. Besides, the constant crawling in and out from underneath cars should keep me limber right?
Only half convinced that’s how that works...

i’m 63 with bad knees, yes

That’s a computer-generated animation. The chair does not exist.

Getting up off the ground is good exercise. Seriously. They say it’s what people stop being able to do as they get older. I have some hardcore knee pads and and I get up and down.

Same. But at least your driveway is flat.

Knee pads if your knees are bad. Getting up off the floor is one of the first things to go. SRSLY.

To be in shape and old = good.
To be youngish, lazy, and with this chair = better.

True. Although my town is trying to pull an HOA move and ban repairing cars in the driveway.
![]() 03/20/2018 at 22:30 |

Lovely. I live in an unincorporated area. I store my pop-up trailer on my front lawn and Rusty in the driveway. I cannot conceive of surrendering my freedom and individuality to a HOA. And paying dues for the privilege.
![]() 03/20/2018 at 23:01 |

We don’t have an HOA, but we are in an incorporated area. Local authorities are not known to hand out a lot of tickets, so I’m not super worried. We had the fire department called on us last fall for burning wet yard waste that made a ton of smoke. They nicely informed us not to do that again, no citation.
Although the local building inspector is a dickhead.

Building Inspector = Powerless Person on a Power Trip
![]() 03/20/2018 at 23:15 |

He had the power to stop my roofing crew while I went to the city building to write them a check.
![]() 03/20/2018 at 23:31 |
|
Yup. And he probably has but minimal actual construction experience and is earning a fraction of what he’d be earning if he’d been successful at a real job or business. Kind of like me, as a teacher...
![]() 03/21/2018 at 07:17 |

I honestly have no idea what his qualifications are. It’s not like the city actually inspects roof work, they just want $60 for a pink piece of cardstock. Which frankly is fine, but the dude showed up screaming and yelling like it was some sort of personal affront to him. You would think I just made a bunch of lewd comments about his wife or something.
I don’t pull permits for the interior work I do. I’m not worried about my neighbors dropping the dime on me, because they don’t either.
![]() 03/21/2018 at 07:50 |

Yeah. Power trip. Taking it personally. On the whole, I don’t have a problem with the concept of building codes and zoning and such. I find that all of it generally makes sense and contributes to a greater overall safety.
![]() 03/22/2018 at 05:36 |

Yeah I do need to pick up some knee pads. Still fine getting up off the floor, but making a good deal more noises doing so than when I was 21...

Same here. I haven’t begun to be old yet, but I’m old enough to claim that I’m too old to do this or that. At my own discretion, of course.
![]() 03/25/2018 at 01:00 |

I wanted one too, until I found out they’re $12,500
![]() 03/25/2018 at 10:54 |

HOW MUCH?! Holy shit!

That was pretty much exactly my reaction.
I’d done some googling and found a reddit article or something that said they were over 10 grand, and then I found an email address for the guy that makes them and he emailed back (not in the first response mind you) that the “Human Hoist” is available for 12,500 and that if I thought about it, it was really quite an excellent deal.
Also, 12,500 is introductory pricing.
Yeah.
For comparison, a really nice US made lift that’s overbuilt as fuck is around 7500.
